Hi Everyone! As some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of Disney's "The Lion King". To celebrate this, I've decided to create a "Lion King" themed challenge! Read below for the theme, rules, and how to submit your entries. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL YOUR FANTASTIC PIECES!!! :D

Theme: "Tiniest Creatures of the TLK World"

This challenge is dedicated to the tiniest members of the TLK world. It focuses on the lives of the ants, gnats, fleas, mites, and all of the other VERY tiny creatures (even micro-organisms) and their everyday interaction with (as well as the struggles and dangers they must face in) an enormously large world. Can you imagine the day-to-day dangers a flea or mite must experience living in a world of "giant" lions. Not getting stepped on, squashed, or eaten, are the everyday challenges they must face. Dive down into the world of these tiny and microscopic creatures in this contest.

"TINIEST OF THE TINY" SUB-CHALLENGE:

CHALLENGE - Create an entry that gives the greatest illustration of the contrast between the big and tiny worlds. In other words, to the person that can
draw the TINIEST of the tiny creatures (including micro-organisms) and what the world is like to them (with respect to the challenge description).

 Rules:

- The challenge is open to everyone.

- Entries can be in the form of pictures, comics, written stories, and any combination of these as well!

- Participants can enter AS MANY ENTRIES AS THEY LIKE! There is NO LIMIT, and the more the merrier!!!

- Entries can be in any type of style (i.e. they
can be a single picture, a series of sequential
pictures to tell a story, a "comic book" style
picture (several picture frames in one
main picture), etc.).

- All entries must include at least one tiny
creature (ant, flea, gnat, mite, etc.) and one TLK character in it, although more of
either is fine. It is definitely OK however,
if either the tiny creature or TLK
character can't actually be seen in the picture
because of the use of a first-person
perspective (seeing through one of the
character's eyes), although this perspective
doesn't have to be used in the entry.

- The canon TLK characters in the entry can
be drawn at ANY age, even if they have never
been featured at that age in any official
movies, books, or other works (i.e. Cub
Mufasa, Adult Tojo, etc.).

How To Enter:

Submit all your entries into my "The Lion King - Tiniest Creatures Challenge" folder, or provide a link to your entry (or entries) in a comment on this journal post and I will place them in the folder.

Here are just a couple of the fantastic entries we've received so far:

Circle Of Life by Miss-Melis       even kings fall (txt version) by thereina       Hakuna Matata by Miss-Melis       My Entry by Cartoonmoviesfan       Termite Invasion- Tiniest Creatures of TLK CE by TalesOf-Adnari       For the Tiniest Creatures Contest by BullerThePirate

Tiniest Creatures... infesting Nuka by Flameshadow117       Yes my king OLD by Art-of-a-spirit       Nuka's Termite by Stephy09

Check out my "The Lion King - Tiniest Creatures Challenge" folder for the complete set of entries that have been submitted so far.

Thanks SO much to all the AMAZING artists who have submitted entries so far, and keep those submissions coming everyone! :D

+ If you have any questions or concerns regarding the challenge, please don't hesitate to post a comment or send me a message! :)

****TIPS FOR WINNING ENTRIES****
Remember, this should largely be an exercise in drawing perspective due to the dramatic difference in size between the tiny creatures and the canon TLK characters. Think "EXTREMELY tiny" and try to imagine and capture how the world and huge animals in it look from the perspective of a very tiny creature. Can you imagine how enormous a lion would look from the perspective of a flea or mite (or conversely, how tiny a flea or mite would look from the perspective of a lion)? The art should get down into this perspective, but DOESN'T necessarily have to be in first-person view (i.e. You get down to the tiny creature's level but could still be looking through a third-person's view). Be creative with the perspective and viewpoint of the art.

Hi! The idea for this challenge is interesting and different and I appreciate you telling me to join but I think I'll pass, some of the reasons have already been commented by others.

Patrick, I've been looking through the comments and over the years - yes, years - you've said so many times that you will announce the winner and give out prizes "in a future journal", but that journal never comes. I think you owe it to everyone who entered this when it was a contest to announce the winner within the next week, or at least, give an exact date (and stick to it) when you will announce the winner and hand out the prize. I'm not trying to be rude at all, but I'm sure you can appreciate how unfair this is to everyone who entered. You've been in so much trouble over it and have been reported so many times; why not just get on with it and make it all go away?

Hi QuillElizabeth,

Thanks for your message. I definitely understand your point and honestly didn't mean to delay the results of the contest so long. Unfortunately, some unexpected things came up that I am still now getting sorted out. I really don't want to give a specific date right now for revealing the results (for fear of again not being prepared to do so by that time), but I am narrowing down my choices and hope to announce the winners very soon.

Thank you again. :-)

Just wondering,

Have you given the prizes out yet?
You claim you will, it has been a very long time though, and although yes events could have delayed the prizes being awarded, it shouldn't have been delayed this much

Hi Torro-Torro,

Thanks for your message and question. I actually haven't awarded the prizes for the contest yet. I have reviewed the eligible entries and am narrowing them down to the final selections, but have yet to decide and formally announce the winners (which I will do in a future post) and award their prizes.

I'm truly sorry for this continued delay. I know that you and many others have been waiting for an extremely long time, and I sincerely apologize for that. I honestly never meant to take so long, but be assured that I have not forgotten and fully intend to declare the winners and award the prizes as expected.

Sorry again for this extended delay, and thanks very much for your patience and understanding. :)

Hi DJMIXX20,

Thanks for your question and interest. I really appreciate it. It's not a trend, but not a contest anymore either (as the contest phase ended a while back).

It's a theme challenge open to all who are interested in participating.

Thanks again, and I hope you'll consider entering. :)

Unfortunately, certain people have taken issue with the duration of my challenge and the fact that no prizes are currently being offered in it. It does not fit their "definition" of what a contest/challenge should be, so they have chosen to leave rude and insulting comments regarding it. I ask that you please pay absolutely no mind to these individuals and do not allow their baseless claims to give you concerns about participating in the challenge.

Yes I plan on finishing it though it's old as heck and as the perspective is off I'm struggling with the background but yeah, I'll finish it eventually because I like it so far or at least I think it could turn out well enough to be posted here. ^^

Also your contest idea is very creative and original! <3

Please make sure to share it here when you complete it, and feel free to submit any other ideas you might get for my challenge if you wish to. You're a wonderfully talented and creative artist, and I know you'd come up with some AMAZING things for it. :D

Yeah I read the different journal entries about it. ^^ I don't understand why people say it's a scam since you mentioned that it was more of a challenge than a contest now. ^^; Things are clearly explained soooo... Why do people hate on you for that?

I HONESTLY don't know why Arceus55. Some people have absolutely nothing better to do, it seems.

I've explained the contest phase and my intentions regarding awarding prizes, etc. as clearly as I can, but still people (most of which have not even participated in the contest/challenge and have no stake in it at all) have left and continue to leave mean and disparaging comments about me and it.

I won't let their hating upset me or affect my plans for the contest/challenge though, and I want to sincerely thank YOU in particular for being so kind regarding it. I keep it open because I enjoy it and because of people like you, who continue to show an interest in it. Thank you so much.

Hi TheNinjaWolf123,

Thanks for your question. Entries have definitely slowed down with the challenge having been open so long (as you might imagine), but people actually still show a significant interest in it even now. Many of them are currently busy with other art and personal matters, but I'm hoping they'll keep their interest and be able to participate eventually.

Thanks Again. :)

Your link simply reiterates exactly what I just told you regarding the contest, and your rude, insulting comments simply reflect your nature as a crude and immature individual. As I said earlier, if you are interested in the challenge you are more than welcome to participate. If not, that is perfectly fine as well, but then kindly MOVE ON and MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, rather than post insulting comments about things that don't concern you and that you know absolutely nothing about. Thank you.

Ooh right! Again, it's completely not my business!! But still, YOU don't have the right to SCAM PEOPLE into GIFTING YOU FREE ART. The contest should have ended TWO. YEARS. AGO. If you wanted to turn it into a challenge; Why not make a new journal?? Why are there NO journals with the prizes you "gave" to the "winners"??? You just tricked ALL OF THEM to get ART FOR YOURSELF, AND YOU USED THEIR EFFORT FOR YOUR OWN GAINING, SHAME ON YOU!

The prizes for the initial contest phase have not been forgotten about and will indeed be awarded at a future date, and the fact that the format and duration of my challenge does not appeal to you is of absolutely no concern to me. Many individuals have shown a continued interest in my challenge, and I will keep it open as long as I please, as is my right. As I've continually said to you, if you are interested in the challenge you are more than welcome to participate. If not, that is perfectly OK too, but then kindly move on.

To my knowledge you are not a participant in this contest, so as I said to you already, please attempt to find something better to do with your time than post rude comments about things that do not concern you and that you know nothing about. Thank you.

Reported. I knew I remembered your username from somewhere, you used to do this same scam or should I say "contest" on TLKFAA. If anyone who's reading this is wondering, this guy  ( dacostpa ) had a contest on TLKFAA, and he'd extend it, and extend it, and extend it, literally giving the contest no ending to get free art, just as he's doing right now. This is truly pathetic. Along with it's pathetic of you spamming comments advertising your scam on many people's art. No one like's that kinda thing. It's completely rude. Anyways, no wonder you did a tiny creature's contest, suits your obviously tiny brain. So yeah, no one join this "contest."

Name calling is incredibly immature mackenzierae23, and is clearly reflective of your childish personality and nature. The version of the contest on TLKFAA wrapped up quite a while ago and prizes were awarded.

Quite a few people have shown interest in this challenge, whether prizes are offered or not for it, and the fact that it's makeup, advertisement, or duration doesn't suit your liking is of absolutely no concern to me. I will keep the challenge open and promote it as long as I see fit, as I am completely within my right to do. If you wish for me to not advertise it on your art I will most definitely respect that, otherwise it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS where and how I promote it. If you are interested in the challenge you are more than welcome to join it. If not, that is perfectly fine as well, but then please move on and mind your own business.

Thank You.

If you did it on TLKFAA, why did you tell people here that you where going to awarding prizes, over two years ago, to those who won, and that the contest was to be finished on the 30th of September, if you had awarded prizes and then left it open for people to enter that'd be different, but you basically scammed people on DA to enter, thinking that they'd be winning something but instead it was just so you had free art.

Hi Torro-Torro,

The contest held on TLKFAA was completely independent of the one here on DA. The one on TLKFAA finished up a while ago and prizes were awarded for that one. It is kept open (without prizes) as a challenge for those who would still like to participate.

The one here on DA is still running as a challenge as well (without prizes) for those interested, but the prizes for the initial contest have not been forgotten about and will indeed be awarded at a later time.

Okay, but make sure you do hand them out. Also just some advice, if you hold a contest again on DA give the prizes out on the finishing date else people get annoyed and feel cheated, thats exactly whats happened here.

And about that

well as you can see, many of us have commented here. So...... why aren't you answering? And where are the prizes? where is EVERYTHING THAT IS NEEDED IN A REAL CONTEST? :O

Sorry about capslock. But I really hope you do answer.
Because many of us can't wait for explanation. We deserve it. Especially those who have joined and made an entry.
