Hi Everyone! As some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of Disney's "The Lion King". To celebrate this, I've decided to host a "Lion King" themed contest! Read below for the contest theme, rules, and how to submit your entries. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL YOUR FANTASTIC PIECES!!!
Theme: "Tiniest Creatures of the TLK World"
This contest is dedicated to the tiniest members of the TLK world. It focuses on the lives of the ants, gnats, fleas, mites, and all of the other VERY tiny creatures (even micro-organisms) and their everyday interaction with (as well as the struggles and dangers they must face in) an enormously large world. Can you imagine the day-to-day dangers a flea or mite must experience living in a world of "giant" lions. Not getting stepped on, squashed, or eaten, are the everyday challenges they must face. Dive down into the world of these tiny and microscopic creatures in this contest.
"TINIEST OF THE TINY" CONTEST SUB-CHALLENGE:
CHALLENGE - Create an entry that gives the greatest illustration of the contrast between the big and tiny worlds. In other words, to the person that can
draw the TINIEST of the tiny creatures (including micro-organisms) and what the world is like to them (with respect to the contest description). The tiniest
size creature may not necessarily win (as other factors can influence the choice for winner (i.e. picture quality, picture concept, etc.)), but
this is the general theme of this sub-challenge and the primary focus in deciding the winner. This sub-challenge is NOT a requirement for
contest entries, and any and all submissions that follow the posted rules are welcome and greatly desired.
For the top placers in the contest, we have some very exciting prizes courtesy of a truly EXCEPTIONAL artist! DeviantART artist and fellow "Lion King" fan, HydraCarina, has generously offered her services and talent to the contest, and will be giving artwork prizes to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. If you are a fan of "Lion King" artwork, then you more then likely are already familiar with HydraCarina's SUPERB artwork, and you can see it all for yourself by taking this link to her DeviantART page: hydracarina.deviantart.com/ . - The contest is open to everyone.
- Entries can be in the form of pictures, comics, written stories, and any combination of these as well!
- Participants can enter AS MANY ENTRIES AS THEY LIKE! There is NO LIMIT, and the more the merrier!!!
- Entries can be in any type of style (i.e. they
can be a single picture, a series of sequential
pictures to tell a story, a "comic book" style
picture (several picture frames in one
main picture), etc.).
- All entries must include at least one tiny
creature (ant, flea, gnat, mite, etc.) and one
canon TLK character in it, although more of
either is fine. It is definitely OK however,
if either the tiny creature or canon TLK
character can't actually be seen in the picture
because of the use of a first-person
perspective (seeing through one of the
character's eyes), although this perpsective
doesn't have to be used in the entry.
- The TLK characters in the pictures MUST
be canon characters. I am expecting to see
mainly the canon lion characters, but entries
with canon characters who aren't lions (i.e.
Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa, etc.) are allowed. They
can be from any movie, comic, story book, or
the 6 New Adventures books (i.e. they can be
from ANY Lion King work that isn't
fanfiction). The two exceptions to this that I
am allowing are Tanabi and Sora Lion (from
Kingdom Hearts II), both of which can be used.
- The canon TLK characters in the entry can
be drawn at ANY age, even if they have never
been featured at that age in any official
movies, books, or other works (i.e. Cub
Mufasa, Adult Tojo, etc.).
