Hi Everyone! As some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of Disney's "The Lion King". To celebrate this, I've decided to create a "Lion King" themed challenge! Read below for the theme, rules, and how to submit your entries. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL YOUR FANTASTIC PIECES!!! :D

Theme: "Tiniest Creatures of the TLK World"

This challenge is dedicated to the tiniest members of the TLK world. It focuses on the lives of the ants, gnats, fleas, mites, and all of the other VERY tiny creatures (even micro-organisms) and their everyday interaction with (as well as the struggles and dangers they must face in) an enormously large world. Can you imagine the day-to-day dangers a flea or mite must experience living in a world of "giant" lions. Not getting stepped on, squashed, or eaten, are the everyday challenges they must face. Dive down into the world of these tiny and microscopic creatures in this contest.

"TINIEST OF THE TINY" SUB-CHALLENGE:

CHALLENGE - Create an entry that gives the greatest illustration of the contrast between the big and tiny worlds. In other words, to the person that can
draw the TINIEST of the tiny creatures (including micro-organisms) and what the world is like to them (with respect to the challenge description).

 Rules:

- The challenge is open to everyone.

- Entries can be in the form of pictures, comics, written stories, and any combination of these as well!

- Participants can enter AS MANY ENTRIES AS THEY LIKE! There is NO LIMIT, and the more the merrier!!!

- Entries can be in any type of style (i.e. they
can be a single picture, a series of sequential
pictures to tell a story, a "comic book" style
picture (several picture frames in one
main picture), etc.).

- All entries must include at least one tiny
creature (ant, flea, gnat, mite, etc.) and one TLK character in it, although more of
either is fine. It is definitely OK however,
if either the tiny creature or TLK
character can't actually be seen in the picture
because of the use of a first-person
perspective (seeing through one of the
character's eyes), although this perspective
doesn't have to be used in the entry.

- The canon TLK characters in the entry can
be drawn at ANY age, even if they have never
been featured at that age in any official
movies, books, or other works (i.e. Cub
Mufasa, Adult Tojo, etc.).

How To Enter:

Submit all your entries into my "The Lion King - Tiniest Creatures Challenge" folder, or provide a link to your entry (or entries) in a comment on this journal post and I will place them in the folder.

Here are just a couple of the fantastic entries we've received so far:

+ If you have any questions or concerns regarding the challenge, please don't hesitate to post a comment or send me a message! :)

****TIPS FOR WINNING ENTRIES****
Remember, this should largely be an exercise in drawing perspective due to the dramatic difference in size between the tiny creatures and the canon TLK characters. Think "EXTREMELY tiny" and try to imagine and capture how the world and huge animals in it look from the perspective of a very tiny creature. Can you imagine how enormous a lion would look from the perspective of a flea or mite (or conversely, how tiny a flea or mite would look from the perspective of a lion)? The art should get down into this perspective, but DOESN'T necessarily have to be in first-person view (i.e. You get down to the tiny creature's level but could still be looking through a third-person's view). Be creative with the perspective and viewpoint of the art.

I'll try to get over the fact how long it took you to pick the winners of this... I don't even know how to call this, challenge/contest/..?. I won't be getting into that in case there's some kind of good reason for that gigantic delay. But one thing I don't understand; if the winners are picked and this is no longer a contest, WHY keeping it open even as a challenge. If people want to draw something related to the tiny creatures with TLK theme I can't see why wouldn't they simply do it, why would they give it here? It's just endlessly pointless. This can only, potentially, inspire people to draw something. But even in that case I believe it would have the same effect if this is announced as closed.
That is something that actually makes me believe this all is a scam, and I honestly don't judge quickly, I informed myself very well on everything about this before deciding to write this comment. I mean, what else would be the reason for keeping this open as a challenge but getting art? And also you are constantly advertising it and forcing it everywhere, which also is... weirdly suspicious to me.
I am telling you, it would have the flat out same effect if you closed this; people could get inspiration for their art and continue making related things. But sure there will only be one minor/major difference; they wouldn't be putting your name into description and you'd stop getting others' work and of course they wouldn't be advertising this so called challenge through their art. Sure they could mention someone else's work that you put in this journal if it served as an inspiration but they'll hardly mention you. And I think that is the main reason this is still open. And if the reason is that you only like seeing others' art on this theme, there's a search option in DA, so knock yourself out. I feel dumb for even considering this... :slump:

I am not trying to be rude and I doubt it seemed like I am but try to see it through the eyes of others; what else can we think??
